Attorney General Stumbo Announces Indictment of Adult Daycare Administrator
Attorney General Greg Stumbo announced today the indictment of Paul Craycroft, age 36, the former administrator of Frankfort Active Day, an adult day care facility, on one felony count of devising a scheme to obtain Medicaid payments by means of filing false documents.
The indictment, returned by a Franklin County Grand Jury, states that Mr. Craycroft altered patients’ sign-in and sign-out times on the facility’s logs. His alterations falsely indicated that Frankfort Active Day clients had been present at the facility for longer periods of time than they had in fact been there, even though Mr. Craycroft knew the clients’ correct arrival and departure times. The facility later used the altered sign-in and sign-out logs to prepare claims submitted to Medicaid for payment. Because Mr. Craycroft had altered the logs, the facility received Medicaid payments in excess of the amounts to which it was entitled.
Frankfort Active Day was not indicted. If convicted, Mr. Craycroft faces a maximum term of five years in prison.
“My office is absolutely committed to prosecuting Medicaid document fraud,” said Attorney General Stumbo. “It is unconscionable to divert Medicaid money. It must be used to provide desperately needed medical and dental care for residents of our Commonwealth.”
This case will be prosecuted by Assistant Attorney General Mary Cartwright and was investigated by Kentucky Bureau of Investigation Agent George Bean.
