Attorney General Greg Stumbo Responds to Senate Budget Cuts
FRANKFORT, KY (March 21, 2006) – The Attorney General today responded to budget cuts to the Office of the Attorney General proposed by the Senate.
“Senate cuts threaten services provided to crime victims, consumers, and the elderly,” Stumbo said. “Taking money away from law enforcement is short sighted, and puts Kentuckian’s safety at risk. I call upon the conference committee to restore the basic funding levels necessary to maintain essential services.”
The Attorney General’s office defends all felony convictions in Kentucky, and works to protect Kentuckians from career criminals. The office also prosecutes elder abuse cases and recovers millions of dollars in fraudulent Medicaid payments.
“These Senate budget cuts will deprive citizens of services they deserve,” Stumbo concluded.
