Geveden appointed Executive Director of Attorney General’s Office of Criminal Appeals

FRANKFORT, KY (Friday, January 07, 2005) – Attorney General Greg Stumbo announced today that Charles Geveden will join the Attorney General’s Office on January 18, 2005 serving as the Executive Director of the Office of Criminal Appeals. The Office of Criminal Appeals represents the Commonwealth in defending felony convictions, including those in which the death penalty has been imposed, when those convictions are attacked in state or federal court.

Geveden served 17 years, from 1987-2004, in the Kentucky General Assembly representing House District 1 – covering the counties of Ballard, Carlisle, Fulton, Hickman and McCracken. During his service as Representative, Geveden chaired the State Government Committee and was a member of the House Judiciary Committee and the Economic Development Committee. Geveden, who has practiced law for nearly forty years in Wickliffe, served as Commonwealth’s Attorney for the First Judicial District prior to his years in the legislature.

“I’m pleased to have Charlie, who has such a long and distinguished career in state government as well as the prosecutorial system, come on board to direct our Office of Criminal Appeals. Having worked alongside him in the General Assembly, I know personally his abilities and have respected him for many years,” said Stumbo.

Geveden is married to Patricia Geveden and has four children.
