Victims’ Rights Day Rally to be held at Capitol
Beth Holloway Twitty is featured speaker
FRANKFORT, KY (April 21, 2006) – Attorney General Greg Stumbo will host the 15th annual Kentucky Crime Victims’ Rights Day Rally, in the Rotunda of the State Capitol on Wednesday, April 26, 2006, at 1:30 p.m. Featured speaker Beth Holloway Twitty, mother of Natalee Holloway, will share an amazing story of how demonstrations of unity sustained and encouraged her through the tragic disappearance of her daughter in Aruba.
Attorney General Stumbo has made victims’ rights a cornerstone of his administration and respectfully hosts this annual rally honoring crime victims and their loved ones. This event is in conjunction with the nationally designated 26th annual National Crime Victims’ Rights Week, which is April 24th – 28th.
When Beth Holloway Twitty's daughter Natalee disappeared on the last night of her senior graduation trip in Aruba, the whole world rallied support for Natalee’s family. Ms. Twitty received prayers and letters from thousands of supporters across the country –neighbors as well as governors –and from as far away as Jerusalem. The outpouring of concern kept her going during the months she lived in Aruba searching for Natalee. The unity across Ms. Twitty’s hometown community of Mountain Brook, Alabama spread nationally, as yellow bows and prayer bracelets could be seen from Florida to California. Ms. Twitty’s remarks will be a poignant tribute to Natalee and the community continues to stand behind her family.
A reception will immediately follow the event on the 2nd floor of the Capitol, where letters that are part of a “Victims Speak Out” will be displayed. The public is invited to attend. Picture identification is required to enter the State Capitol building.
